Computer Services FAQDoes the Library have public access computers at every branch? The East Baton Rouge Parish Library System maintains public access computers at every branch throughout the system. Do I have to pay to use the computers? The computers are available for use free of charge. Do I need a library card to use the computers?East Baton Rouge Parish residents and others eligible for a Library card must use their Library card to access the computers. Those patrons not eligible for a Library card may ask for a guest login at the public service desk. When can I use the computers? You may use the computers any time the library is open. Depending on which computer you are using, you may have to end your computer session as soon as 30 minutes before the library closes. The closing time will vary depending upon the branch you frequent. What time is best, if you want to be able to use a computer quickly, without waiting?Generally, the morning is the slowest time for computer use, although if a class is occurring at the Main Library or at a branch, the computers may not be available for your use. View our Calendar of Events for a schedule of computer classes. Can I reserve a time to use a computer? The library uses a PC Reservation system. Reservations can only be made at the Library on the same day the computer is to be used. The easiest way to reserve a computer is to walk up to a computer that is not in use, click on Available and enter your library card number. If all computers are in use, then you need to make a reservation at the reservation station. Remember to record the computer, time of reservation, and four digit confirmation number displayed by PC Reservation in order to access your reserved computer. Is there a time limit for using the computers? When you reserve a computer using our PC Reservation system, you will be given a certain period of time to use it, generally 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the Library location and primary function of the computer. If no other patrons are waiting, the computer will allow you to extend your time on the computer when your session is up.
