Career Center Quick Facts
- A pilot project of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, funded by the Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
- Provides free services to assist clients in career transition to become their own career managers through self-help with professional guidance.
- Extensive library of current books, periodicals, videos and DVD's on self-assessment, job seeking, specific careers and business information
- Printed self-assessment tests on aptitudes, values, interests, etc.
- Computers, printer and copier available for client use
- Periodic workshops on topics of interest to clients in career transition, e.g. interviewing skills, resume writing, job search, networking
- Periodic informal meetings with Baton Rouge business people
- Reference lists and information about employment services, useful web sites and specialized schools
- Consultation by appointment with professional career counselor
- Not an employment agency or job training facility.
- Serves primarily the skilled, educated worker, including:
- New job seekers
- Downsized employees
- Employees seeking new skills in present jobs
- Individuals returning to the work force
- Students seeking career guidance
