TIMELINE
The Civil Rights Movement
Did you know that Baton Rouge was the site of the first successful bus boycott of the 1950s? Our boycott was the blueprint for the Montgomery, Alabama, bus boycott. The Civil Rights Movement is an important part of our Legacy and the bus boycott is its most important event. The timeline links to the LSU Libraries' Special Exhibit on the Baton Rouge Bus Boycott and other important civil rights events.
