Local Church Histories
For decades, various churches and church leaders in Baton Rouge have addressed the social, economic, and developmental issues facing the local African American community. Some of them, most notably the Rev. T.J. Jemison, essentially started the Baton Rouge civil rights movement during the 1950s.
On this page you will find a list of our local churches and their official histories, some of which were graciously provided by the churches themselves.
