Performers

Louis Ford -- Louis Ford is one of New Orlean’s finest clarinet and saxophone players. Considered an integral part of the Second New Orleans revival, he comes from an impressive legacy of musicians which can be traced back to the Storyville days. Like his father, Louis is an accomplished clarinetist and saxophonist and is truly dedicated to the preservation of jazz. He currently appears on the cover of New Orleans Magazine's April issue as one of 2007's Jazz All Stars.

Harry Anderson --  Bassist Harry Anderson is the Director of Southern University's Jazz Institute.  A native of Pensacola,he began is musical career at the age of 6 singing in his mother's church choir.  He has since gone on to perform with musicians as diverse as Izthak Perlman and Jimmy Heath -- and he has appeared at jazz festivals around the world.

John Smart -- Keyboardist John Smart has been part of BR's jazz scene for over 30 years.  He was a charter member of the the Baton Rouge Jazz Society and has performed with local jazz groups such as Candu, the John Smart Group, Meeting of the Spirits and the Expanded Trio.  He is currently a member of the funky jazz trio, Righteous Buddha.

Betsy Braud --  Flautist Betsy Braud has also been a major player in BR's jazz scene for years.  A student of Alvin Batiste at Southern University and an inductee into the SU Hall of Fame, she has played with almost every jazz musician in the area and has perfomed in both Europe and South America.

Baton Rouge Jazz Ensemble -- BRJE is a 19 piece Big Band made up of professional and amateur musicians from all walks of life. It was formed 1993 and is under the direction of John Gerbrecht.
