Accessing the East Baton Rouge Parish Library Catalog
- Open the East Baton Rouge Parish Library Home Page (www.ebr.lib.la.us).
- Click on the Library Catalog link in the main menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
Logging in to your Personal Account
- You do not need to
- On the library catalog home page, click the 'Log On' button on the left-hand side of the page. This will take you to the sign-in page.
- To sign in, first enter your 14 digit library card number in the space provided. Your card number is located on your library card, and begins with 21659.
- Enter your Name Code in the space provided. Your Name Code is the first 4 letters of your last name followed by the first 3 letters of your first name. It is not case sensitive. If your last name is shorter than 4 letters, enter your full last name. If you have punctuation in your last name, leave it out. For example:
- Mary Smith = smitmar
- John Woo = woojoh
- Susan O'Connor = oconsus

My Account
- To access your library account, click the My Account/Renew button on the left-hand side of the catalog page. If you are already logged in to the catalog, the User Activities page will open. If you are not logged in you will be prompted to do so (Follow the 'Logging in to the East Baton Rouge Parish Library Catalog' instructions).
- From your My Account page you can view the items you have checked out, see due dates and items you have on hold. You can also cancel holds, choose pick-up locations and renew items.
Renewing Items
- To renew your items, click the My Account/Renew button on the left-hand side of the catalog page. If you are already logged in to the catalog, your User Activities page will open. If you are not logged in you will be prompted to do so (Follow the 'Logging in to the East Baton Rouge Parish Library Catalog' instructions).
- Under the heading Loan Information/Renewals, click on Titles I have checked out now & my renewal area
- You will see a list of the items that you have checked out, along with their titles, barcode number, item type (such as DVD or book), loan date, due date, location, and number of renewals (how many times the item has already been renewed).
- Select the item or items you want to renew by choosing the checkbox at the left. Then click Renew selection. Alternately, you can choose Renew all to renew all of your items.
- If there is no checkbox, then there will be a reason given why the item cannot be renewed. Some reasons include Reserved for another borrower and Maximum no. of renewals reached. If you cannot return these items before the due date, then call Library Renewals at 231-3744 as soon as possible.
Searching the East Baton Rouge Parish Library Catalog
The online catalog contains a list of all materials available at the library. There are three different search options:
Simple Search
- In the search box type a word or phrase which describes what you want to find. For example: Dinosaurs. Click 'Go' or press enter to start a general keyword search.
- To search for a specific title, author or subject, use the drop down menu to the right of the search box to select the option.
More Search Options
- Under this search tab (to the right of 'Simple Search') you may combine search terms. You may also choose to search within a specific collection, such as DVDs.
Browse Search
- The third search tab (to the right of 'More Search Options') allows you to browse through general headings to more specific ones. Enter a keyword and click Go. This will open up a list of the most closely matched headings. You may then browse for more specific sub-headings.
Placing a Hold
- To place a hold on a book in a results list, click on the title of the book.The detailed record of the book will open.
- Click the 'Place Holds' button on the left-hand side of the page.
- If you are signed in you will be prompted to choose your pick up location. Then click 'Place Hold' and you're done. If you are not logged in you will be prompted to do so first. (Follow the 'Logging in to the East Baton Rouge Parish Library Catalog' instructions).
